Nekoma Mountain Snow Park & Resort

Nekoma Mountain, operated by Hoshino Resorts, is one of Japan’s largest ski resorts with 13 lifts and 33 courses, spanning both the north and south sides of Mt. Nekomadake. The south side offers wide groomed slopes, while the north features dry powder and a long season from December to May.

From the slopes, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Mt. Bandai, also called Aizu Fuji, and the majestic Lake Inawashiro, the fourth largest lake in Japan — a perfect blend of skiing and scenery.

Lesson Policies

- Fee Inclusions & Exclusions

Lesson fees cover certified professional instruction only. Lift tickets, equipment rentals, meals, accommodation, and transportation are not included and must be arranged separately prior to your lesson start time.

- Insurance Notice

Lesson fees include basic accident and liability insurance strictly during lesson hours only. As this coverage is limited, we strongly recommend that all guests purchase comprehensive overseas travel and winter sports insurance prior to their trip to ensure full protection.

- Lesson Start Time & Meeting Info

  • Full-Day Lessons: Start at 8:50 AM (includes an additional 1-hour lunch break, which does not count toward your instructional time).
  • Half-Day Lessons: Can be booked for either Morning (8:50 AM) or Afternoon (12:50 PM).

Please arrive on time, as late arrivals cannot be accommodated with make-up time or refunds, and lessons will end as scheduled. For meeting location details, please refer to the section below.

- Children's Lessons (Ages 4–10)

For safety and focused instruction, we only offer one-on-one lessons for children aged 4 to 10 with a dedicated ski or snowboard instructor.
Any duration can be chosen. Break time will be arranged flexibly depending on the child's needs.

- Different Language Lesson

We offer lessons in Chinese, English, and Thai. The number of ski/snowboard instructors for each language is limited, so lessons will be arranged based on instructor availability. We recommend booking early to secure your preferred language.

- Group Size

Our private lesson rates are charged on a flat-rate basis per lesson (not per person), accommodating up to 4 participants per group at no additional charge.

- Session Continuity Policy

All booked hours for a lesson must be completed in one continuous session on the same day. Lessons cannot be split, divided across multiple time slots, or transferred to different dates.

- On-Site Extensions & Plan Upgrades

Subject to instructor schedule and availability, lesson extensions or plan upgrades can be requested on-site via either option:

  • ¥15,000 / hour, or
  • Paying the applicable rate difference

Area Guide & Meeting Point

South Area (Hotel Area)

The South Area is where the Hoshino Resorts Bandaisan Onsen Hotel is located.

South Area operation period: Mid Dec – Early May

Please select the South Area if you are:

・Staying at Bandaisan Onsen Hotel
・Coming from Aizuwakamatsu, Inawashiro, Bandai Machi, or Koriyama Station

Meeting Point: In front of the 1st floor ticket counter.

Recommended for: Beginners in both skiing and snowboarding. (South Area has a magic carpet area—perfect for first-timers!)

The North Area runs from late November to early May — one of the longest seasons in Japan.

North Area operation period: Late Nov – Early May

What is included in the lesson fee?

The lesson fee includes instruction by a certified ski or snowboard instructor. It does not include lift pass, equipment rental, accommodation, or transportation.

What languages are lessons offered in?

We offer ski & snowboard lessons in Thai, English, and Chinese. Please indicate your preferred language when booking.

Are lessons suitable for beginners?

Absolutely! Our ski & snowboard lessons are beginner-friendly and start from the basics like putting on gear and learning the correct posture.

Does SORA offer equipment rentals?

We do not provide equipment rentals directly, but you can rent skis, boots, and clothing at the Nekoma Mountain rental center. We recommend arriving early to complete the rental process.

What are the operating dates of the ski resort?

The north and south areas of Hoshino Resorts Nekoma Mountain Snow Park & Resort have different operating periods:

  • South Area: mid December to late March
  • North Area: early December to early May
