Hoshino Resorts is one of Japan’s most internationally recognized hospitality brands.
When people hear “Hoshino,” they often think of luxury hotels, top-quality ski resorts, and fully integrated vacation experiences.
And when it comes to ski resorts, most people immediately think of Tomamu — but Hoshino actually operates three ski resorts.
Current Hoshino-operated ski resorts:
-
Hokkaido|TOMAMU — The most famous and complete resort-style ski destination
-
Fukushima|Nekoma Mountain — Extra-long season, addictive skiing, powder paradise
-
Gunma|Mt.T (Tanigawadake area) — A mountain-ski resort newly developed by Hoshino, with great future potential
Let’s explore the charm of all three ski resorts.
Whether you’re a family traveler, beginner, powder lover, or advanced rider, there’s a perfect place for you.
1. Hokkaido|TOMAMU
— A dreamlike resort you won’t want to leave

TOMAMU is Hoshino’s most famous winter resort destination, ideal for families, beginners, and anyone who wants to relax in the mountains for 3–5 days.
Ski Area Features
-
Wide terrain with great variety
-
Courses for beginners to experts
-
Popular off-piste and ungroomed zones
-
Smooth lift layout for full-day skiing
Resort-Level Accommodation & Facilities
TOMAMU is one of the rare places where the entire mountain is the resort.
Hotels, restaurants, and activity areas are all concentrated in the resort village.
There are many restaurants, cafés, and small shops.
A major highlight is THE NORTH FACE GRAVITY, a premium outdoor specialty store found only in select areas like Niseko and Hakuba.
Activities (You can spend a full day without skiing)
TOMAMU offers an extensive list of activities:
Snow karting, snowmobile tours, horseback riding, ice fishing, snow trekking,
the famous Ice Village, and the unique Mina-Mina Beach indoor warm-water wave pool.
TOMAMU is the perfect combination of vacation + skiing, great for families or travelers who want both comfort and snowy fun.
2. Fukushima|Nekoma Mountain
— Japanese Powder × A Ski Resort “Made for Snow Addicts”
If TOMAMU is a vacation paradise, then Nekoma is the place you get addicted to.
The South Area (formerly ALTS Bandai) began operations in 2003, one year earlier than Tomamu opened as a Hoshino ski resort.
From the 2023–24 season, the South and North Areas became fully connected and relaunched as Nekoma Mountain, now one of the largest ski resorts in Tohoku.
Nekoma’s most iconic slogan is:
“A ski resort built for snow addicts.”
Ski-in Ski-out: Hoshino Bandaisan Onsen Hotel
Right beside the South Area is Hoshino Resorts Bandaisan Onsen Hotel.
Real ski-in ski-out:
Walk out in your gear → slide directly onto the slope → return in minutes for a break, hot spring, or lunch.
Perfect for those who want to ski from morning to evening.
South Area × North Area — Two personalities, two experiences
South Area (former ALTS Bandai)
-
Diverse slopes & fun terrain
-
View of Mt. Bandai (Aizu Fuji)
-
View of Lake Inawashiro (Japan’s 4th largest lake)
-
Great for beginners, families, and photographers
Sunny days offer spectacular lake-and-mountain scenery—one of the top reasons people love Nekoma.
North Area (former Nekoma Ski Resort)
-
Higher elevation
-
Drier, lighter powder snow
-
Natural terrain & tree runs
-
Views of Urabandai mountains and deep forest lines
-
Ideal for intermediate–advanced riders
South = wide views & scenery
North = powder & deep mountain vibes
Together they make Nekoma a resort you can ski day after day without getting bored.
Extremely Reliable Powder & 5-Month-Long Season
Thanks to its location and terrain, Nekoma has incredibly fine, dry powder—even in warm winters.
-
2024–25 Season: 158 operation days
-
2025–26 Season: 159 operation days (planned)
One of the few ski resorts in Japan operating into April and early May.

3. Gunma|Mt.T (Tanigawa Pass)
— Hoshino’s New Direction: Mountain Skiing × Advanced Rider Heaven

Mt.T is a newly acquired Hoshino ski resort located near Mt. Tanigawa, one of Japan’s famous 100 mountains and one of the three major rock faces in the country.
Its winter scenery is majestic and beloved by mountaineers.
Ski Area Features
-
Elevation around 1300–1500m
-
Cold climate & excellent snow quality
-
Full view of Mt. Tanigawa from the ski area
-
Lots of natural terrain and back bowls
In recent years, Hoshino’s direction is clear:
Mt.T is being shaped into an advanced-rider-focused resort.
During the 2025–26 high season (January–February), only 150 one-day tickets will be sold daily, ensuring powder lovers can enjoy quiet, uncrowded slopes.
⚠️ Safety Reminder
Mt.T includes many BC (backcountry / off-piste) zones.
Anyone entering should:
-
Carry avalanche gear
-
Understand snow safety
-
Ideally hire a professional guide
This is a resort where nature is the main character — respecting the mountain is essential.
Will Hoshino Build a Hotel Here?
In 2025, Hoshino launched a new accommodation brand “Lucy”, focusing on mountain tourism and nature-based stays.
Although nothing official has been announced,
Mt.T feels like the perfect match for Lucy — let’s see if this prediction comes true in the future!
